And they have good quality clothes and boots. Not like the crap Wal-Mart sells.

There was 1 in Santa Fe NM and the 1 in Las Vegas NM was only 200 yards from our house (the store was literally on the edge of town)
I bought many dove shells there when I was 15, or so - and many, many more later.

They used to be in Arkansas. I still have a box or two left from a couple cases of shotgun shells I talked my mom into buying when the one in our town closed down.

The last one I saw and I think it is still open was/is in Lawton, Oklahoma. It was there in the late 90s and it all kinds of gun stuff. Like I said, I'm pretty sure it is still there.

There used to be one in Albuquerque and either Clovis or Portales too. I recall buying some reloading supplies at the one in ABQ.

Started my reloading career with a 20 gauge Texan loader and HiSkor 700 bought from Gibsons in ABQ. Still have the loader and it has been a bit over 40 years. Still have some shells loaded on it since I shoot FEW shotgun shells in a year.

Used to be some here in TN also, but LONG gone now

One in Douglas GA opened in the late 60s. Bought several guns and much tackle there.

Last one I actually saw that was open in Vernon, Tx, gone now of course. Been to several in N Tx area as a kid, the one in McKinney I think now is a store front county office. Only gun my dad ever bought for me from was from Gibsons. Lots of memories from Hot Wheels to fishing gear to gun stuff.

As a side note, Willie Robertson (yes, the Duck Dynasty one) married into the Howard (Brothers) family, who got their start in discount stores with a Gibson's franchise. I think the lawsuit Howards filed against Gibson's ended that relationship though.

They were all over southeast Kansas. Decent store. Not as big as Walmart.

I grew up in DeSoto? It's nothing like it was when I grew up there.

No kidding. Grew up in Lancaster and Desoto in the 70s and 80s. Makes me sad to even go back there, now.

There were two of them in Abilene where I grew up. I'd ride my bike their in Jr. High to buy .22 ammo, shotgun shells, and fishing tackle.
My Aunt worked in the Toy Dept. for years, so I knew nearly every one that worked there on a first name basis.
I can remember when I was in Grade School, they sold Military Surplus Rifles for like $25 bucks. They would display them in one of those old round aluminum trash cans & you could take your pick.

Best Sporting Goods Dept. ever!!! They had every color fishing lure ever made by every manufacturer. And tons of guns & archery stuff. I bought two new handguns there when they were going out of business in 1980. A new Ruger 45 Blackhawk on Closeout for $150 & a S&W Model 34 Kit Gun in .22 LR for only $225 bucks! Those were the days!
Wish the original Gibson Stores were still around.
