I tried a set of Weaver pivots on the 243 DL. I have never fired this rifle until now so have no baseline to compare it to. I'm out of adjustment to the right and I'm still shooting left. Alot. There's no adjustment on the bases available, all the screws are tight, so what's next? Anybody have this problem?

I had the same problem with my 243DL. Took the Weavers off and replaced them with Leupold one piece. Boresighted fine with the Leu but haven't had a chance to shoot it. Glad to hear my rifle isn't the only one. I got it real cheap in Oct and was afraid there was something wrong with it.

I've used those mounts Roy but didn't have the problem you have. Shim the base or get a scope with more adjustment range.

David, now that's just not encouraging at all! These obviously have been coated to match the rifle so hopefully I can figure out how to make them work. I like that they're light so don't want to switch unless necessary.
Steve99, how would I shim the base and solve the problem left/right? Shim one side??
Steve LBK, old ones.
I've used this mount setup on other rifles but never run into this.

Have you tried lapping the rings? Steve

I've never had a problem with old Weaver's. Heard so many horror stories about the newer ones I've never used them. I have bought new ones and actually given them away to avoid issues. I'd mount a scope with more adjustment.

When I first thought of it I should have asked if the ID of the rings were coated.

When I first thought of it I should have asked if the ID of the rings were coated. Looks to me like EVERYTHING is coated. Inside, outside, screws, threads et al. Hope it's not some sort of hardcoat.

Shim the rear base, nothing to lose.

My Weaver rings were the new ones and the scope is an old Leu VXII with limited adjustment. David

I would try swapping the rings, front to rear, to see if anything changes.

It's probably all that Krylon on the gun & mounts that has everything all gunked up & throwed the scope out of whack. Mebbe you could strip that paint off with a Bernz-O-Matic torch..... Mike
