I thought I would post a photo of a 99 new to me. I picked this up a couple months ago and took it out this hunting season and took a busted up 5 point with it.
Very nice 99R, like the sling and hooks with the original sling eyes.
“The Savage 99 Pocket Reference”. All models and variations of 1895’s, 1899’s and 99’s covered. Also dates, checkering, engraving.. Find at www.savagelevers.com
On my end it looks like the photo has to be downloaded and doesnt come up as an image? I had the prob once before, what is the proper way to upload so it is posted as a Photo?? And I got the gun with a redfield peep in a box. Was the peep the only difference between a R and RS??
Welcome Aboard! Great first post. You sir have obvious photo skills. Nice composition. Sweet rifle too.

Thanks about the photo thats what I do for a living. All week long I photograph stuffed animals (teddy bears and the like)for a major gift manufacturer. Every so often I get the urge to photo one of my fire arms or hunting equipment and turn my living room into a studio.
The F has a different Fore end and there is a boss under the back sight.

Thanks And it is a 300, which is a new caliber to me. And yea I guess it would be the r or the rs as there aren't any other markings on the barrel. There is very little recoil on this gun, I guess because it is such a heavy gun for the cartridge. Either way its consistantly accurate and the action is fabulously smooth!
The Rs are characteristically good shooters. Maybe it's the extra heft that makes them that way. They were the black sheep of the models years back but have become very popular in recent years.
