He goes in the bathroom, raises the window, commences to get down to business.
After a staccato burst of noise that the squills mistake for a call, they come running.
He starts gunning, but the neighborhood gets upset.
...........I think..............
I am not quite fluent in Kawinese just yet.....

Maddog, I found this thread and read it, finding it quite entertaining and stirring the squirrel hunting desire in me. I also invited my little buddy that lives out in the yard in to view your thread, and as he went through the pages, you could tell he was beginning to tremble. When I showed him your picture, he was visibly upset. I let out a little laugh, like someone who is crazy would do, looked him in the eye and said "He's moving in next door". He ran out of the house in a panic, and I guess he couldn't take the stress.......11 Kv was his solution

Man, you've had some nice hauls (with nice guns).
I'm going out tomorrow am, but they've been elusive as heck since the weather went wonky before the new year turned. They're all waiting it out or something.

Gave it a go this weekend, but only saw one squirrel in a woods where I'd see up to a dozen during deer season. I think the cold and snow had them denned up and when they did venture out there weren't too far from said den. Still beat sitting at home.

Saw a bunch this morning but all together in a 15 minute window and they were squirly. Got one. It's been like pointer's post. Cornmeal crusted baked chicken for supper, so this one got done up at the same time. (Steam kinda got in the way.) Ella

Well, another 2" of snow last night. Looked at the forecast, and the fat lady is warmin' up. Our season ends Fri. Might be a remote possibility of getting out Fri., if the wind ain't blowin' 25-30 mph. All in all, it's been a helluva fun season. Only 6 1/2 mos. til I can do it again! maddog

I had kinda lost interest in squirrel hunting until I read this, and I may just go next year.
And, due to the cold weather here, your buddy is still out hanging around on the power line..

Ma' Nature sure played havoc with my post deer season squirrel plans. Damn her... Maybe we should get a group of Hoosiers together for a weekend to KY or TN in May/June and get an early start to the squirrel hunting? Land Between the Lakes?

Not a bad idea. Saw on another forum that the DNR was looking for input on a possible spring squirrel season, here in Indiana. I told them I was all for it. Also wish they'd leave the season open until Feb. 28, each year. There aren't that many small game hunters[here in Indiana] anymore and the impact on the squirrel pop. would be negligible. My only problem is work. I'm a district man for a seed company, and getting away in May/June is tough, because of farmers in the field.

maddog I'll do some looking at the dates and see if a weekend can't be made to work. Didn't know you were in the seed bidness. Do you carry covercrop stuff? I had a pisser of a time finding some winter rye, oats and brassica's in small quantities a couple of years back. Looking to do a few plots for the deer...
