Called out to the local Cabelas today and asked if they have any 22 lr ammo? the associate said yeaah and I asked kind and price. Seems they received 10 bricks of Norma USA Tac-22lr's 50 rd boxes 40 gr lead bullets 1100fps target loads at $5.99 a box. Never knew Norma made rimfires and never really keep up with their stuff as it is spendy , $6 a box is more than I like to pay but I said what the heck and spoke for 2. Anybody used this ammo before? Curiosity made me give it a chance. Magnum Man

Never have seen Norma 22LR, but given my experience with their centerfire rifle ammo I would like to try some. A bit expensive, but not overly so given what I have seen lately.

There is a thread on RFC about Norma. It's supposed to be pretty good stuff.

I have recently purchased a couple of bricks of this also but have not had a chance to take it out and shoot it. However, it is made By RWS in switzerland for Norma so i have no doubt it is good stuff. http://rws-munition.de/en.html

Well I called back over to Cabelas this am and had them put away another 2 boxes of the Norma USA 22LR ammo and picked them up at noon. Was surprised they had any left but guess the $6/50 scared off most, whatever. It was nice out for a change and shot after I got home from work. 5 5 shot groups at 50 yds .345,.504,.760,.650 and .665"(4 in.268") averaged .585" the larger groups all had a flyer that opened them up,without those flyers would have been .3 to.4" somewhere. This ammo shows more accuracy promise than any I've used in sometime. If I get my own performance to the same level that the ammo is capable of it will be great. It was quiet also. Mag Man
Thanks Dink for the link.

Cabelas had 500 ct paks on their website this morning for $54.99 and I had some Cabelas bucks "needing" to be spent , so I should have them on my door step by the middle of next week.

222Sako, that sounds like a buy to me, even before SH panic good 22lr target ammo was not inexpensive. When I shot the groups above it was 47degrees out and nice compared to lately. About sundown tonite it was 7-8 degrees with a 8-10mph wind. not the best time to try for good groups, but I remembered a few rabbit and squirrel hunts from years past that weren't any nicer conditions. So dealing with the cold I ran 5 5shot groups with Remington Thunderbolts to see what they would do. 1.018, .680, .622, 1.184, and .922" for an avg. of .883". Not in the Norma league, but cost was $2.29 / 50 rd box. Sometimes they have been the only 22lr available around here. Magnum Man

My old Clark 1022 shoots well anything with a CCI stamp on it . I still have plenty CCI on hand, but I was curious on how this will group. I doubt I will be loading up 25 round magazines for the 1522 and rapid firing at inanimate targets with this ammo. What rifle are you shooting?

I have more than a few 22 rifles but for this ammo comparison test with different ammo I'm using a HB CZ model 453 with the set trigger. Easily the most accurate 22 I own. Magnum Man

Bought brick of the Norma 22 tac from Midway a month or so ago. Have found it to be one of the more accurate 22 ammo in my BSA model 12 target rifle. Gave some of the Norma TAC to a fellow shooter to try in one of his target 22 rifles, a Kimber GVT 82 that he'd scoped. After 5 or so rounds, he was convinced it was accurate ammo as it had produced a group on his 50 yd target that matched the groups he'd been shooting with his favorite match ammo that costs a heck of a lot more than the Norma.

Cold tonite at about 5 pm when I got home it's 6 degrees with a 4-6 mph wind and lightly snowing. Target is placed and the CZ on the bench with Federal "blue box Champion's" 40 gr unplated LR's with a muzzle vel. of 1240 fps stated. (5) 5 shot groups measuring .731, 1.169, .866, .710, and .645" for an avg of .824" If I threw out the group with the verticle flyer it would be .738" for ammo that cost me $2.99 a box or 6.3 cts a rd. I'll try it again in more favorable weather and shooting conditions. I've got another 8-10 kinds of ammo and no reason now not to test it in the same more less shooting conditions as winter is here for awhile yet. Magnum Man
