I own a bunch of different pairs of wool socks, some are good, some are just okay, but I had one pair that was really really great. The problem is I have worn them completely out and do not know the brand name. They were really thick and coarse woven. The individual strands that created the weave on these socks was really thick as well, and they had almost no stretch to them. Anybody know a brand that fits that description. I would pay dearly to have a couple more pairs of these socks. I have been trying to replace them for a couple years, which is why I have so many pairs of wool socks. I have been buying everything I could find that is close with no luck.

Can't name the brand but I agree fully on wool.
I have at times found some excellent socks in military surplus stores. Availability has not been consistent though.
Remember - If one finds a product that works really well, he should secure a lifetime supply.

IME Merino Wool is not as warm as 100% Lambs Wool
The best approach is a Thin Wicking sock next to your skin, then Wool over that,

Nope tried both of those and they did not work as well. The socks I had were ugly looked almost like someone's very talented grandmother knitted them. I would take a pic but folks would laugh at the holes in the heels and big toe. With a light pair of cotton socks under the wool socks I had your feet just did not get cold even wearing those old Rocky slip on ankle height camp shoes. I went back to the sho where I bought them a half dozen times hunting more of them. I know they were almost 100% wool.

IME Merino Wool is not as warm as 100% Lambs Wool Merino wool IS 100% lambs wool as it comes from the Merino breed of sheep. Perhaps you mean one of the many wool blends that use Merino wool are not as warm as 100% wool?

Expensive ,but the heaviest Ultra Max from Cabelas will fit the bill

I'd say it's time to learn to knit. You can drink while you do it. I'm thinking it's the only way to get really good socks.

SOunds like home made socks. I have a pair that have real thick threads and were home made.

Darn Tough, made in Maine, or vermont. Merion wool. they are AWESOME. I wear them everyday i have work boots on. and everyday im in the stand.

The warmest I've had we're the heavy duty. Bass pro lifetime guarantee now days they have the same guarantee with different thickness.
