Got on Jeremy Reid's list last year for a 2013 build and now he's not taking any new work. He's a Bob Rodgers' prodigy and shoots tens of thousands of rounds per year in competition. So he really knows how to build a 1911! I took my pistol to him (he's local to me) on 11/13, which was the day before we closed on a new house (ugh!). Base pistol is a Colt Government Series 70 Reissue in Stainless. On 11/19, he sent me this pic.already had the slide top treatment done and the rear sight cut.

Then on 12/5, he sent me a few pics showing the beavertail, thumb safety, and MS Housing fit. He also had beveled the magwell and straightened the frame lines. Blending will still need to be done later.

Pics on 12/11 showed a blended thumb safety and contoured beavertail. frame dehorned, Kart barrel and bushing fitted, and machine bevel and ball cuts finished on slide.

Pic today showed most everything fit. French border and dovetail for front sight done. He will test fire the pistol and get the 20 LPI checkering (old school!) done on the frontstrap and MS Housing. Then he'll do the final blend and put the final finish on everything. I specified custom wood grips with lots of grain and figurefinished smooth. Can't wait! Notice how he recontoured the slide stop to remove serrations on top and serrated the bottom. I like!

That's an outstanding job of fitting the grip safety to the frame.
Gonna be a beautiful gun.
Congrats.

He's here in Lubbock for now. I believe he said he's moving to the family ranch soon. Can't remember where he said it was, but I think it was in TX.

There are 'smiths that are outstanding at making guns work mechanically & then there are others who are just as good on the mechanical side & have a lot of artist's skill's as well, Chuck Rodgers being the best that I know of on the 1911 side, but Mr. Reid sure seems to be headed in that direction........taken on the whole, that looks like outstanding work.
Be sure to put up some pics of the finished work.

I can like that a ton!
I'd love something similar but on a Commander. One of these days I'll have the $$ to send one off to Joe Chambers for a build.

Grips done. Desert Ironwood. Checkering is done and I might get some pics of that tomorrow. Went with 20 LPI old schooland because I already have guns with 25 LPI and 30 LPI. Gun should be done very soon. I'm excited.

That's going to be a fine 1911!
We may know the time Ben Carson lied, but does anyone know the time Hillary Clinton told the truth?
