Here's mine. She's the 1st centerfire rifle I ever bought ... back in my teenage years This baby tends to get pushed towards the back of my safe. She's just begging to go on a big game hunt out west ... maybe someday. This would be the one I'd prolly kick myself in the azz over if I'd ever send it down the road. I'm thinking once this weather breaks, you might find me out in the pastures shooting this ol gal off my bench and dialing in some loads. Lets show some love for the 30-06

My only 30-06 at the moment. BAR Longtrac My first centerfire rifle was a 30-06 Rem 710 but it is long gone.

Plain vanilla ADL 30-06. Keep telling myself I'm gonna restock it, and rebarreling to 338-06 but I like it just the way it is I reckon.

RickyBobby that is the exact rifle I have been looking for. If you ever decide to part with it I'll buy it in a second. I've seen a lot of 7mags and 300 Winnies on the classifieds but not a single stainless 30-06. It's the gun I originally wanted as well but my FFL couldn't get one for 6-7 months so I settled for a blued Savage. The savage is great but doesn't capture my attention like the stainless 70 does.

The only one I need, from 1958.
Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!

Pretty pedestrian compared to most, but my favorite 06, a Remington ADL - And its backup, a Marlin XL7 -

I'll play... Three .30-06s. From left to right, Ruger M77, Ruger MKII, Remington M700. The stainless MKII is now in a boat paddle stock: The stainless MKII action and boat paddle stock have since been assembled as a .338WM.

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.
A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

But, they are so damn boring...
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Here's one I found about 10 years ago at Cabela's on the used rack. The throat was washed out so I re-barreled it. Somebody had sanded the stock and flattened the diamonds so I bought a checkering tool and cradle and recut the panels. I found an old Outers stock refinishing kit in the garage and the stain was just about an exact match for the pre-64 stain. So I re-stained the panels and then gave the entire rifle stock an oil finish.
Keep your gun-hand ready and your eyes peeled.

This one is an Ithaca LSA65 in 30-06. I bought it new in about 1976. It has seen a lot of shooting for a hunting rifle. Back in 2000, my wife talked me into giving it to her, so I had the stock shortened to her LOP, and a nice recoil pad installed. I like pictures of rifles to have dead animals in them, so here is her bull moose. One shot, DRT. Here is one that Dad had back in the mid 60s that I killed my first moose with. Think it was a JC Higgins. Iron sights. Moose dropped at the shot -- 400 yards. I was 15 years old. Luck may have played a part in that one. I also have a Tikka M65 - very similar to my wife's rifle. I have killed animals with it, but I don't have any photos of it other than sans scope and inside. Love them Tikkas -- the Ithaca is a Tikka.
