Hello Everybody

I am on the hunt for a 9.3x62 Bolt Gun, CZ 550, Ruger M77 or whatever you might have or know there is for sale. Its been getting tough finding those guns. It is the perfect all around caliber in my opinion.

Thanks for your help

Zastava M70 Mauser 9.3x62 bolt gun in stock at K-Var. If you're a lefty, they also have a LH in stock.

I too have been in the market for one of these. And as you've found they factory rifle selection is sparse. One other option depending on your budget is either the Sako 85 Black Bear or the Sako 85 Grizzly (aka Arctos) depending on your preference of synthetic vs wood respectively. I've settled on one of those, just saving my pennies at the moment.

Based on what's currently available new you're pretty much down to:

CZ, Sako, Sauer 101, Mauser M12 and if you can find one, a Merkel SR1. If you're willing to drop some more cash Blaser is always an option.

Used, well they've been chambering for this round over 100 years, so there's all that goes with that.

Thanks for the replies,

My number one choice would be the Ruger M77 African Gunblast SE, but it seems it will be quite a mission to find one.
I am looking for nice wood, so I am currently looking at the CZ 550, but that's a hit and miss.
I got lucky with a 550 that I own in 375HH and the wood is to die for so my expectations are high :-)

Let me know if you know or have any of those guns for sale

Thanks, a lot of good info, keep it coming

You could consider a rebore of a 270 or similar to 9.3x62 using JES.

I know you said bolt, but one other option is a Ruger No 1. They're chambering the medium sporter in 9.3x62 this year. That's a mighty fine rifle in a mighty fine caliber.

My spies tell me of a Sako L61 .30-06 in pawn. If it comes out for sale, it gets to visit Jes.

I can do that way cheaper than a Blaser barrel.

Browning makes the BAR in that caliber for the European market. Why not here is beyond me. A friendly distributor should be able to lay hands on one.

JES Reboring is a quick and easy way to get into 9.3x62. I sent him my M70 Classic .30-06 and it was back in my hands exactly 7 days after I mailed it.

Just find any '06 or .270 that tickles your fancy and send it to JES. For only another $250 you get the exact rifle you want. He's done two for me. The 9.3x62 is a killer.

+1. Just bought a stainless/synthetic 9.3x62. What's better than a stainless Mauser?

ED, keep us posted on that rifle. I shot a lefty Zastava and thought it was a little crude in comparison to the CZ550 American I have. The stock didn't fit me for chit either. Yours is the synthetic stock version though (I presume). I like the idea of a stainless lefty mauser action though..

I haven't seen that option in this part of the world. Dang it.

I have never done any reboring, so I figured using a 30-06, should eliminate any bolt work or issues with the magazines as the 3006 and 9.3x62 cartridge are virtually the same length.

Am I right??? or do I need to have the bolt reworked as well, and the magazine changed???

My experience is limited to two Model 70s and a buddy's Tikka. Same boltface. As long as there's no problem with feeding the original cartridge, you shouldn't encounter any issues with the 9.3x62.

When I checked, Kvar said they weren't going to import any stainless mausers. Dumb.

Agreed. Although no stainless are available, any idea what synthetic stock might fit the Zasty M70?
