Would there be any issues with putting a sporter barreled action in a stock. For a heavy barrel? I have a rem. 700 22-250 sporter and I want to put a youth stock on for my grandson. Have only been able to locate some wood stocks for varmint or heavy barrels. I intend to cut it to fit him. Any advice

No, it'll work fine. It'll just have a big gap around the barrel but that's just cosmetic. If you're okay with the looks then it'll work.

it will look like a savage or a boss installed browning with the huge gap around the barrel. it will be free floated for sure. if there is no finish in the barrel channel I would put some to seal the wood but otherwise it will work fine.

Yes it will work fine and you can always fill the barrel inletting
to make it look better

A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

I HAVE A 243 WIN AND A 270 WIN THAT ARE IN SAVAGE VARMINT HEAVY BBL STOCKS. The stock works just fine. Accuracy is better for these 2 rifles in varmint stock rather than regular hunting stock. There are no pressure points affecting the bbl and the stock fits me better.

Depends on how big he is. Is the forend too fat for him to hold?

Why not place an ad in the classifieds for a SPS synthetic youth stock. Remington was selling those guns with two stocks, a youth and a full size, to fit as they grow deal. Gotta be an extra out there for you.
