I bought used a custom Wichester 30-06 with a custom barrel and mcmillian stock. Gun is accurate, have some issues with trigger, bolt having to be repaired etc.
The gun stops feeding correctly if only 1 or 2 cartridges are in magazine. Apparently the spring is worn out, not enough tension. Take to gunsmith, he can't find correct spring. This spring is actually riveted to the bottom of the magazine. Gunsmith researches the serial number and tells me the gun is 50 years old and he can't find the correct part and can't figure out anything else to make it work.

I would aprreciate either a place to buy the spring or a good workaround using something else.

Thanks

He sounds like a parts changer. Almost any bolt action magazine spring of similar length like a 98 Mauser, 1903 Springfield, 700 Remington LA, etc. should work with maybe some modification to accommodate the bottom rivet.
