Yea, I know,,, lame. But some nice looking dogs on there even though they'd probably run for the hills at the first gun shot.
Anyway, does anyone know why the judge grabs a handful of nuts on all the dogs?

To make sure they have both of them.
I've judged (hunt test) and worked with one AWS that was at Westminster and I would be proud to hunt over it.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

The water spaniel looked like a nice dog to me. The lab (not in the finals) looked like it had been crossed with a daschund - little legs and sausage body.

Somewhere around here I have a "Best of Breed" medal from the Westminster show many years ago. One of my late dad's Griffons won it back in the 1950s.

Please don't assume just because they are "show dogs" they can't hunt.
However most of them never have the chance.

I'm a GSP guy & there were definitely some real lookers in that show.
AKC says "A dog in hard and lean field condition is not to be penalized" but I wonder how one with a big scar on the nose or a piece of ear missing would really fare in the show ring...

I liked the Griff this year. They mentioned that he had placed high at NAVHDA.

Did anyone see that horse of a Redbone in the breed videos? Dark red & not a patch of white on him. I don't think he won anything though.
