For about five years I used the 38 with 148 wads/3.5gr Bullseye/ 800fps Smith 586 6" for snow shoe, cottontail and jacks. Had a long string of one shot kills. When I first started that decided I would do so until I ended up shooting a bunny twice for the kill. Mid season in the fifth year finally happened and went back to a 22 rifle, finally got tired of eating rabbit so gave it up completely. Does do wondrous things to coyote also.
No fear, no doubt, all in, balls out.

More interesting than the thread itself, is looking up the previous posters and when they last posted, most are gone...

Where should the butter be? Before or after the biscet is baked.

The butter should be with the salt, before the biscet is baked, and with the pepper after the biscet is baked.

I've got some extremely accurate cast loads for my .260 Rem. moving about 1500 fps. Would you think this will tear up bunnies in a bad way or still leave them with plenty of edible? I can put 10 shots into one hole with this load at 50 yds.

I've thought about going for a sub-sonic load with this rifle, but haven't gotten that far yet.

1500fps hardcast should be fine for bunnys, and just punch holes.
I use a 25-20 loaded to a bit over that speed, and have taken body shots on rabbits with no excess damage.

For small game I have used the .32-20, .38/.357, .22 Hornet, .222 and reduced loads in 7.62x39 or .223.
I really like the .22 mag for smaller critters as well.
Another rifle I like is the 77/.357. I use both .357 and .38sp. rounds depending on what I'm after.
A 158gr. full wadcutter over 2.5gr. of Blue Dot works fine.

I used my 100 year old Marlin 94 25-20 with Lyman 257420GC bullets at about 2000 fps for many years on small game. Head shots only with this one, don't know if it was the velocity or the fast twist sleeve in the barrel, but it tore up rabbits and squirrels if body hit. This is one of my favorite rifles, but don't know if my eyes would allow hunting in the timber with it again.

I have an older octagon barreled 1892 Winchester, wearing a Lyman tang sight. I have been using it for a few years on everything from squirrels up thru deer.. 5.5 grains of 2400, under a cast RCBS 25-85 wheel weight boolit. I'm not sure of the velocity, but it kills squirrels dead without tearing up much meat, has accounted for more than a few turkeys and groundhogs, a few Rabbits and does fine on deer out to 50-75 yds in a pinch.
