I used my 100 year old Marlin 94 25-20 with Lyman 257420GC bullets at about 2000 fps for many years on small game. Head shots only with this one, don't know if it was the velocity or the fast twist sleeve in the barrel, but it tore up rabbits and squirrels if body hit.
This is one of my favorite rifles, but don't know if my eyes would allow hunting in the timber with it again.
