Does anyone know the sn range for the LH M70, especially the low end. I have a stainless classic sn g1771xx. When I tried searching the sn it got real confusing real quick. I think it's in the low end but not sure.

you will never know after FN took over the production they got tight lipped I guess on SN. That's why all the books on the model 70 go only to 1992. If you are wondering if their were 5 digit LH I doubt it. I have a LH model 70 and my SN is in the same range as yours. I think most LH model 70 from the first run are low 6 digits. I would shoot mudstud a PM he knows alot about these model 70 classics.

I have a small collection of Ruger #1s. The Ruger #1 collectors maintain data bases of serial numbers, especially of the more unusual configurations. Thought maybe someone was going something similar with these.

When FN took over they stopped providing sn and dates. I heard at one time you could call the NH plant and they would tell you but I don't think the took the records with them to the south carolina plant. Heck does anyone know what they did with the records from 93-06?? I read they turned them over to the BATF probably not true.

They're probably still back at the shuttered New Haven plant.
