Would like to thin out the song dogs on a friends farm. Would the 36 cal RB be ok for med range shots? Thanks!

I think that would be my pick. I don't think the 'yotes will like it one bit though!

.36 would work, .40 would work better.

I would lean toward .40 or .45 caliber. Round balls are light for caliber and lose energy quick. I consider .32 and .36 calibers to be best suited for small game.

Called this one in a couple years ago. I don't have a small caliber rifle so I made do with my .54 GPR. A .54 ball thumps em pretty good.

Did the .54 pick it up and slam it down nice and hard?
You mentioned medium range. Guessing that's 50 yds or so? Would 75 yds be pushing it for a .36 cal ball?

IMHO 75 would definitely be pushing it for a .36 and coyotes. 50 yards would be about my limit, and I would expect runners then.

not that it really maters but theres several 10ga muzzle loading shot guns that do a decent job with a load of 70 grains of 2f capped with a 10 ga fiber wad, under a penny coin wrapper full of #1 buckshot http://www.dixiegunworks.com/product_info.php?products_id=976

I prefer the 50 cal , here is a couple of coyotes , one with the Omega 50 and the other with the Encore 50 cal.

I think a .45 cal would be the best choice....IMHO
