Yeah, we got 8-12" last night and forecast says about that much more on the way.

And guess what. No schools are closed.

Snow in the backyard is now level with the trampoline. We've got another blast of very cold weather coming this week, too. We've peaked at 12 degrees today with predicted highs in the mid single digits for the next 6 days.

You might say so. Note the guy using the snow blower's not visible above the banks. All you can see is his cap:

Happy days are here. With Lake Erie froze over no more lake effect snow. We'll only be getting 1-2" to add to the 115.1 we already got.

Wow, Red, that looks like WINTER.
We got a little norther last night that dropped about an inch, but it blew around and drifted pretty well, and the chill is not pleasant at all. There were a mess of deer hiding in the backyard woods this morning, trying to get out of the wind. Most of them wouldn't even move when I stomped through, they just sat and watched.
I'd rather a straight-down DUMP myself.

We are sick of winter here in CT also. There is a foot or more of snow on the ground and the low tonight could be 14F.

There is too much snow and cold to enjoy shooting outside at the range. Been that way too long. frown

One thing we saw that was pretty interesting - the snow has drifted so often, and with such severe cold, that the drifts are like cement. Both our Boxers can now walk on top of the more than 3-4" of snow in my yard without breaking through and sinking in...and Harley weighs close to 90#..

Geez... smile

added: (and nearly forgot) there's been more than a half-dozen barns and pole sheds that have collapsed from all the weight. One OTR driver has a restored old semi in one of his sheds, and now the roof has fallen in on it.. I don't dare call him to ask how bad the damage is.. eek

I was up to the cabin in northern WI this weekend and the snow in the area between the cabin and the garage, which doesn't get the sun to melt it, was up to my chest. I've never seen it like that before. That's a crap load of snow.

Our farm on the lake is right on the Price/Ashland County line. They have it stacked up on the driveway twice as tall as the Excursion.
Redneck- FYI, this is where all those great old Oshkosh and FWD trucks with the big double-wingers went. We pay our township a whopping $140 for the whole winter to keep a 1/4 mile long driveway and around the pole barn clear, and I'm not sure anything else could do it now other than those old trucks (or a new front loader.)

That little melt we had last week gave us the same solid base here at our home- the dogs can finally walk everywhere, and the whole farm is like one big groomed snowmobile trail.

Back in '73 we had a snow down here and had several chicken houses collapse from the weight of the snow. I ain't talking about chicken coops in the back yard....I'm talking about houses that would hold 25-30,000 chickens at the time.

One guy I had insured came to the office and wanted to know if he had insurance coverage to cover it and I had to tell him 'no' and he wanted to know why he didn't have it. I looked at him for a few seconds and asked him, "Chester, if I had tried to sell you insurance to cover snow collapse would you have bought it?" He paused for a second and said, "Naw, I wouldn't have." It was a once in a lifetime occurrence in L.A. (lower Alabama).

And yet, here in drought country, Utah, it is at this moment 58.8F. All the valley snow is gone, but it still snows a bit at most of the ski resorts at night. I saw a few folks playing golf yesterday and I damn near broke out my fly rod today.

I rememeber snow like that back when I lived in Wi. I'd no sooner get my driveway done and the country guy driving the plow with the wing down would fill it back in. 65 here today, got my shorts on and the doors open!
