Where is Jim Corbett when you need him? I have and treasure a first edition of his book. That man was a hunter's hunter, and I would love to spend time in the bush with someone near as talented as he. I think he respected tigers and feared leopards.

Lakhapat Singh Rawat - a 49-year-old government schoolteacher - is a legend in the hills of Uttarakhand. Villagers hail him as a saviour for eliminating the leopards that eat people, mostly children. It was in 2001 that Rawat logged his first kill of a deadly leopard that had terrorised Uttarakhand's Gairsain. Today, he is the state's most trusted hunter who has killed as many as 42 leopards that were prowling the jungles of Garhwal. This man is ahead of Gentleman Jim Corbett on killing maneaters. He is posing with a 303 and he had to get permission to get the gun and to hunt the man eater. 12 of his students were killed by the leopard before he could get anything done. He speaks very highly of Corbett going it alone most of the time. He hunts with 2 other guys but he is the shooter.
