No 7mm bullets under my work bench. Since I just purchased a 7mm-08 thought I would ask your guys what is your favorite bullet to use in this caliber when hunting whitetails?
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

I've never hunted whitetail but I hunt fallow.
I don't have a favourite, the 139gr Hornady Interlock, 120grBT, 130 and 145gr hotcors have all shot well and killed well in the two 7mm08s that I've owned. I'm sure there's plenty more bullets that will do the job in the little 7, but that's all I have experience with.

I'd start with the 150 gr. NBT.

My daughter and I have used a 7mm-08 in Kansas for several years. My opinion is that the Hornady 139 gr SST with a 7mm-08 is the perfect combination of expansion and penetration to use on deer. Most of them fell where they were standing. The SST does expand quickly and but we have only had one bullet that was not a pass through. The recovered bullet was a picture perfect mushroom.

140gr Nosler Accubond or 140gr Federal Fusion - lots of success with both.

I've shot deer and antelope with the 7-08, and have used 140gr Accubonds, Hornady SST's, and Barnes (both TSX and TTSX). They all performed very well and wouldn't hesitate to use any of them. Recently I've been loading the 120gr TTSX's for my 11 year old nephew and they work at least as well. Varget for the 120's and IMR 4350 for the 140's.

120 Ballistic Tip--the only one we use in the 7mm-08 for deer and pronghorns.

Seems the 140 grain Accubond is a popular choice. Our property in Tennessee is heavily timbered and most shots would be 50-75 yards. Do you think this bullet would destroy a lot of meat at these short distances?
I have used a lot of partitions in my life but have yet to try the Accubonds.

I've had excellent results with the Sierra 140 Pro Hunter. Last fall, used the Sierra 120 Pro Hunter for the first time. It was a complete pass lung shot through at 150 yards and broke a rib on exit. I'll probably go back to the 140 as it might be a tad better on a shoulder shot. My lung shot deer usually run 40 to 50 yards but I do like an exit hole. Used a Ballistic Tip back around 1996 and it came apart, no exit the deer still ran about 40 yards. I've used the Hornady 139 Interlock but not recently. Hornadys seem to be a little harder than the Sierra and don't expand as quickly, not as accurate as a rule either, at least in my experience. I don't think premium bullets are needed in the 7mm08 for deer.

I think it must be the Hornady 139 Interbond since you cannot find them anywhere!

I haven't been able to get past the 120NBT. They shoot great and put stuff down in a hurry.

In essence Snowwolfe, find out which one of those bullets shoots well in your rifle and live happily ever after.
