After several years of looking, scraping and wheeling and dealing, I finally achieved what for me, is the best group of rifles I need or could want. They're not all collectors or 100%, but they're Model 70's and they all shoot. From the top down: 1957 FWT .243 1961 FWT .308 1957 Std .270 1960 Std. .264 Win Mag 1960 Std. .300 H&H

Super nice battery you have going BUT I can assure you one thing, you will not stop here just one more will pop up that you will just 'have to have'. It is damn near a drug or addiction! LOL very best

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I've owned many M/70's since starting to collect them nearly 40yrs. ago. Down to only two that serve me well for my hunting endeavors, a prewar .257 Roberts and an early '50's Super Grade that has been rebored to .35 Whelen and sports a Lyman Alaskan in a Griffin & Howe mount.

Sometimes its nice to shun the trappings of all that's modern and get back to some not too shabby basics. Very nice collection.

easy on the eyes aren't they... Rifle, I love that fwt. It looks like my 30-06 fwt's twin. How does yours shoot? Mine is a damn tackdriver. One I'll NEVER let go: We can talk "perfect battery" all day long, but when you have a good ol "plain jane" 30-06 like these, there's not much more a guy really needs....

I knew Cliff would be along shortly ... Very nice collection buddy!!! Donsm70 has one heck of a nice "perfect battery" as well, but he doesn't post too many pics I try to stay simplistic with my pre 64 battery choice. It has taken a few years to fine tune my collection and it is damn sure not "perfect" by any means, but it's as "well rounded" as I want it to be. I don't like small calibers, so I don't have any. I guess you can say I drew the line at 270 win and went up from there. Here's what I ended up with, as meager as it may be. I also have to add, that these were very original guns (except for my 375 H&H) that I fine tuned to suit may needs. This means I glass bedded (pillar bedded in some needed cases) them, I swapped stocks, where needed, (especially in the 375 H&H's case) and made sure they are all sub moa shooters: 1957 270 fwt: 1956 30-06 fwt (all original): 1959 338 win mag "Alaskan": 1956 375 H&H: I traded out the old original cracked/repaired stock for this dual crossbolt stock. Some guy had to have my original, so I sold it to him for $400.00....

Nice responses all. Love looking at those fine M70's. While I'm not enamored as some with the ol' "ought six", I never said I was finished...... Besides, a guy's got to have something to look forward to, right?
