and factory ammo sucks - more or less. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

3 quick shots at 100 yards over the tailgate of my truck from an unbedded LVSF shooting factory Black Hills ammo with 50 grain V-Max.

Oh, and it's had at least 300 rounds down the tube since it was cleaned.

Things shouldn't be this easy... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Better wholesale it and get yourself a Savage..I hear they are supposed to be the most accurate out of the box factory gun.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Yep,
That rifle just won't shoot. Better send it to me so I can work out the kinks for you. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

A pure fluke. Doubt you'll ever see a group like that again... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Factory crap, isn't it sad how remington's have declined in quality so much. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

jds44,

How's your 308 version doing these days? I'm loving mine.

I like the .308 LVSF even better than the .223. It'll shoot groups just as small as the .223. Musta got 2 flukes. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Even so, I can't leave well enough alone and have a McMillan Classic on order for the .308 LVSF. I doubt it'll shoot any better, but I'm thinking I'll like the feel a tab better in the Classic. If it turns out as well as I hope, the .223 will get a Classic too.

I'm in a similar situation. I've got two walnut stocked Classics, 250 and 300 Savage, and I love the way they handle. So I've been thinking about a McMillan Classic for the LVSF so it can be a stainless/synthetic counterpoint to the others. But here's the rub: It's shooting so well now I hate to mess with it. One load in particular keeps trying to convince me that if there's paper between the bullet holes it's my fault. This is with a 6x hunting scope. The only thing that's been done to the rifle is a professional tune of the factory trigger. No bedding, no floating, no nuthin'.

We own two LVSFs. One in 204, and the other in 221. The 204 has been an awesome shooter since it came out of the box. The 221 isn't quite as good, but it's perfectly acceptable at about .6 moa.

204 is now a BDL and stocked in a camo HS Precision.
