Has anyone had experience using a Hogue overmolded stock on a hunting rifle? I need a cheap stock for a 700 in .35 Whelen.

Loved mine. Seemed to soak up the recoil...don't know if that is true, but I also like the texture, wasn't slippery when wet. Indestructable.

Like mine too. Original stock on my 375 Ruger Alaskan.
They aren`t pretty. Not supposed to be. It does soak up some recoil imo, are especially well suited for all types of weather, wet weather included and are very grippy.
Due to their oversized fore-ends and pistol grips, they are much better suited for large hands. Smaller hands no.
Very functional, durable, a rough it, and a "don`t treat me like a baby" stock.

They were standard stocks for the TC Icon Weathersheild product line and the new Howa/Hogue line. There are stiffer (floated forearm) stocks out there but the texture on these are a big plus as far as I'm concerned.

I've got a couple. You can usually pick them up in the classifieds for a good price. Factory pillar bedded and I usually go ahead and bed around the recoil lug. Not a bad stock for the money.

On a 10-22 they add some needed weight. I've thrown a couple in the trash that came on used centerfire's I've bought. They make 2 versions. One with pillers that weighs about 2.5 lbs. The version with the full bedding block is 3 lbs+. They shoot as accurately as anything else, but I can say the same for the Tupperware stocks that cost and weigh a lot less.
They are just too heavy, thick and chunky for my tastes. I'd honestly rather have a factory Tupperware stock. I consider them a downgrade.

I have a Howa/Hogue stainless in 30-06. As stated, not the lightest or most slim as is the current thing, but I have no complaints. Has held up well, great stickiness in wet weather or wearing gloves and pretty soft on the recoil end.

I have one (1) Hogue stock, currently attached to a Winchester/USRA 70 WSSM Coyote parts gun. It is OK, probably better than the Winchester/USRA 70 Super Shadow parts gun stock that it replaced, but it is kinda heavy and I'm not sure that I like the sticky texture of the stock.
I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't want this stock on a first tier hunting rifle, but 2nd, 3rd, and 4th tier.

Well Ken...
I admit to not concurring with our Montana forum members commenting on them... personally I like them...especially since you can get something besides the black ones..
I have a batch of them, in Ghillie Green and Ghillie Tan, are the colors I like best...
A Hogue Stock and a Leupold scope, and one has a pretty indestructible hunting rifle, which is oblivious to the wet or cold... does absorb recoil on heavier recoiling rifles also..and you don't worry about scratching them...
I'd loan ya one if I had it in a Remington Long Action, BDL...to see how ya like it..can loan ya one for a Ruger...or Model 70, long or short action...

Only have one on a 10/22 Tactical and like it quite a lot. It's "grippy" and allows a good hold, also lets me position my hand and trigger finger properly.
Wouldn't toss out a good factory stock to replace it with a Hogue but wouldn't turn down a rifle just because it came with one.
But they don't make any for LH bolt actions so it's a moot point for me.
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery. Hit the target, all else is twaddle!

I have two of them. One is on a rifle I built on a K98 action and the other is on my Remington .270WSM. Both are the cheaper pillar bed only versions. Not pretty, somewhat heavy, Both rifles shoot sub MOA and are my bad weather rifles. Actually my .270 WSM is my go to rifle at the moment. I like that unlike other tupperware stocks they never have that cold feel nor are they as noisy when bumped against something hard.

That's it a cheap stock.. Injected molded plastic with rubber on it. I don't like them and replace them bu don't have any in long action laying around..
