Recently had a shoot with fellow .45 ACP fans. One batch of Remington ammo i fired had a flattend portion of the neck after firing and also had a smokey area. Accuracy didn't seem to be affected nor was the recoil or operation of the pistol affected. Does it appear that the ejection port should be opened up? Any other observations? The pistol is a Springfield 1911 A1 G.I. Model.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Was it the green and white box Remington UMC? I tried some in 45 ACP, 230 gr FMJ - didn't like it at all! Dirty and inconsistent. Didn't have a chronograph but could tell by sound and ejection that pressure/velocity was all over the place. Won't buy it anymore.

That said - never had any problems with green/yellow or green/gold box express or premium stuff from Remington.

Seen it before, nothing to worry about hitting the hood while ejecting.

Yep, it was stuff from the green & white UMC box.

Thanks for the reply.
