I realize it's not a lever, but I feel it's in the same class.
I know nothing about them other than I think they look cool. I might be trading into one and I'd like to know more about them. Anything in particular I should check out? What kind of accuracy can one expect out of it?

Great rifles that were built by skilled craftsmen with quality materials on a time tested design. Get the seller to allow you to run a magazine of ammo to insure that it cycles, as the weakest link is the carrier friction spring. They don't break often, but when they do they are a PITA to replace. GPC still carries them. I have bought several non-functioning 14s and 141s over the years whose only problem was a broken carrier friction spring.
I have a 141 in 35, #3021x, and it shoots as well as I am able to with the Lyman peep sight that is mounted.
Good luck!
Jeff

i have a lot of 141 and 14 rifles and carbines. they are my favorite old rifle. they shoot very well and are smooth as butter if functioning properly. the triggers are a bit stiff on them but you can get used to that. watch out for cracks in the wrist and sometimes in the forearm, but that is more of a problem on the 14's than the 141's. they are a takedown gun, so you can unscrew that big bolt in the side of the reciever and pull the receiver up away from the trigger guard and they come right in half for easy inspection and cleaning. the most serious issue i have seen with them is that if the bolt is gummed up, the firing pin will not retract and you will get a slam fire. i've only seen this on two out of probably 20 or so in my family, but it is unnerving to say the least. a good cleaning fixes that problem. the bolt is very complicated to break down and best left to someone who knows exactly what they are doing with them.
the 141 rifle is nice, but if you ever happen upon a factory 141R carbine, you'll wonder why they didn't make more of them.
the 35 is a great round as well. if the gun is functioning properly, and you like pumps, go for it.

Not a 141 carbine, but this Remington 25 25-20 carbine is the sheit! Love it. I'd love to play with it's big brother!

They have outstanding workmanship. They would cost a small fortune today if made the same was as the original.

I bought this one on 24hourcampfire in late 2012. Dropped a nice whitetail buck with it last season. They are great rifles. Way cool looking too. BTW, the twisted appearance of the mag tube is a design to juxtaposition the rounds in the tube so the bullet points don't rest on the primer of the cartridge ahead of it. Neat idea but not particularly useful since most 35 Rems are loaded with round nose bullets. https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth...45/Re_Remington_141_for_sale#Post7116945

thats a nice one you bought and a fair price. i have a couple of beat up 141 35 rifles that need a lot of work that i am going to make into one carbine. i think i have enough parts to make one complete gun, just need to get a barrel cut and sites mounted and hot blued. i like the looks of that butt pad. i may do mine like that too. i need to strip the wood and acraglass some cracks and refinish it. i have a stain recipe that pretty well matches those old rem pumps that i then go over with truoil. i just redid a basket case carbine last winter that now looks almost new.

I wish my 141 was a carbine. But I would never cut it down....

A nice 141 in 35 Rem is a rifle that I've wanted for years. I've got a couple 336s in 35 that I'm very fond of but the 141 is the rifle I hope to own some day.

I sold my Marlin in 35 Rem in favor of the 141. And because I have another 336 in 356 Win. (But it just sits in the safe).
I use my 444 more than any other Marlin......

You know man, I have kinda thought the scope on my 141 semi-blasphemous. But mount was there before I was born, and so was an old 4X Leupold. So it is what it is, I guess. But I can definitely understand your thinking.
Last week I put a new VX-1 2-7x33 heavy duplex on it. The shotgun model with 75yd parallax. I have to say I don't think I have ever bought a better scope for $200 or less. Optically, it is phenomenal for the price IMO.
If I had a carbine I would not scope it.....
