That barrel does look lean! Is that the Bansner stock in the photo? Doesn't look like any I've seen?
I sold my 375 some time ago and now I have a hankering for a 9.3. 250 Accubonds or TTSX's at 2650 or so should do just about any trick needing done!

No that is the factory plastic stock. The Bansner stock needs some work just to get it to accept the barreled action. I started hunting with the 9.3x62 in 2002 on an African trip. The old 250 gr X at 2650 fps worked like a charm.

Not many cartridges I'd feel better about matching against a big bruin than the old 9.3. Keep us posted on how the rifle's coming along.

Are you cutting a few inches off the barrel? Of course, with that skinny a barrel you might need the length to make it balance.
I know if I could get it to balance right I'd be lopping 3.625"

I'd like to see it when it's all done. Should be a nice rifle.

Looks like the ideal combo to me. I've arranged for two of the CZ 550 Kevlar Carbines through this site....both in 9.3x62 as I have L48 friends coming up for brown bear next year. I put 3x Leupolds on both. Our weather will soon be warm enough for serious range time.

I know if I could get it to balance right I'd be lopping 3.625" You know I slapped the barreled action into the stock as best I could given I have some whittling to do here and there and it felt right. Nimble light in the front though seemed proper with the near 24" barrel. Combined with Mark's stock being quite lean on the azzend I think it will sort itself out. Hope to be heading to the place in Idaho with it in June to start working it. A fun little project it will be.

This is my 9.3x62 that I had built for my Africa trip in 2012 It shoots great and balances well! It is a Mauser 98 action, a Charles Daly synthetic stock, Timney Trigger, and an E. R. Shaw barrel at 23"

I don't think I've ever seen a barrel so thin! Looks like a shotgun barrel! Sounds like a good project.

What a colossal waste of time when there are so many small caliber guns out there with fast twist rifling and high B.C. Bullets available, A.I. and TSX bullets...

Not all of us can play DRESS UP when we hunt.
I've even heard tale of a wood man that brought a stainless gun to Alaska once.

Nice. Below a partial shot of my FN 9.3x62 I took to Africa in 2002. A B&C stock, a Barnes 250 X and flop.
