Who here collected them and what did you get with them?
My grandma used to collect them, one time she turned in a few of them and got me a pocket knife, sure wish I hadn't lost it.

My Grandma and Great Aunt collected them. They bought me a game with them when I was a kid. When did they cease to exist and how did they collect them?

About 1975 my wife gave me an ABU 1750A(garcia) reel she bought with Green Stamps. Still have it. It's never seen the water.

My mother was obsessed with them

I collected them and Plaid Stamps in the 60s from my parents and grand parents. My first item was a small tackle box and the second was a hatchet. It was fun and the items were good and lasted a long time.

I got an old Shrade skinning knife. Gave it to the oldest son when he went on his first deer hunt!!! Used to help my grandma stick em in the little books!

When did they cease to exist and how did they collect them? Seems like they died off in the early 60's IIRC. Grocery stores handed em out when you made a purchase. They had little books you glued em into. My mom would have me and my sister licking those dam things for hours. No telling what was in that glue. They also had Blue Chip stamps. Anyone else remember them?

Grew up in a small town in southern Illinois (think Mayberry), my Dad owned the drugstore. We gave out S&H green stamps. I can't really remember what the formula was, but seems like it was one per each ten cents or something like that. Two things you could be sure of.....(1) if you missed the calculation by even one stamp, that sweet little Grandma on the other side of the counter would quickly correct you, and (2) the large swinging metal "We Give S&H Green Stamps" sign that sat out in front of the store would be standing proud in front of the funeral home every Halloween and April Fool's Day!

They were still around in 1968, at least in the little Colorado town I lived in.
About two days before Christmas that year, I had decided to get my kids a relief globe. Thought it would be good for them to see the mountains a little bit but the only place in town that had one was the S&H stamp store but they would not sell it to me for any price and I couldn't locate enough stamps to get it. I was very unhappy with the stamp people.
The Mayans had it right. If youre going to predict the future, its best to aim far beyond your life expectancy, lest you wind up red-faced in a bunker overstocked with Spam and ammo.

S&H Top Value and plaid stamps. As a kid I licked thousands of them to stick in the books for my Grandmother.

Yes sir. Those are good memories. There was an S&H Green Store, right next to the bus stop here in town. You could redeem your filled books for merchandise. I'd forgotten all about that. Thanks for the memory. I think they were here until early 70s? Who here collected them and what did you get with them?
