SM, have you been down around riverton? If so hows the winter treating the critters?
I'm headed to central Idaho for bear, unless I draw a tag here in Utah. Well scratch that..I'll be in [bleep] Missouri during bear season, looks like clear till september, FML..hope i dont draw that UT tag now.. Ya'll have fun chasing bruins! You'd get to chase turkeys without having to draw!

I am sure I will chase them around, but doubt I will get very serious about them.
They stink, don't taste too good and are expensive to put on the wall.
I've killed about 10 or so and really couldn't care less if I ever kill another.

That could be said of a number things that are still worth hunting... Travis

Yeah, spring bear open today here in AZ. It'll cost a resident about $18 though ... Closes May 1 or when the female kill limit reached. Yes, I'll be going. Thought I'd answer for Dennis as he is in the hospital getting his hand stitched up today. Ladder gave way and he got it hung on a nail. Nasty. Last I heard from him a hand surgeon was en route ...

I have never hunted Bears, but have given thought to saving up for a BWT,so as to give it a whirl. What do you do with a Lady Bear?
Sorry to hear someone fell offa their ladder...which is yet another reason to kiss, find pressure and rock on.
Hint.

Boxer, you should try spring bear hunting!
First you need a couple blue plastic 55 gal barrels, and a schittload of oats, honey and donuts.

The thing about bear hunting, is, it's DANGEROUS! Besides your rifle, you hafta carry a big, an I mean a really big back up revolver, and a big knife an ya hafta go in groups of four or more, an after you shoot, you don't get outta yer truck to go look at it unless the bear falls over dead where you can see it. An you hafta use a big, and I mean really big rifle, a 338 is at the bottom end of what is big enough with at least 300 grain bullets, and carry lots of ammo because bears take a lot of shots to kill, and besides, there are other bears and wolves and catamounts and wolverines and lynx and bobcats lurking behind trees waiting to attack people. I know, cuz I seen all this stuff on TV and Peterson's Hunting magazines.

Spring may be a little late in most of the mountains of South Western Montana this year....Took this just a week ago, on the way to Bozeman for a ski trip. I'll be taking all three boys out for their first bear hunt in May. Looking forward to it.
Luck....is the residue of design...

Well, by the looks of things it might be summer till we can hunt, and season will be closed! However, Im betting if anyone finds a bear or two out, it'll be Scenarshooter.

I am leaving in the morning. Didn't have a chance to sight in my 340 like I wanted so I will be stuck with 140 ABs in my 6.5-284 for this hunt. Like Jeff said, ladder collapsed and a roof fell on my arm, a nail on the top of a truss ripped my thumb muscle in half. Prognosis is for a complete recovery. It is NOT my shooting hand either

Tuesday morning here. Stormy, windy, rainy lately. Lots of green grass and little snow, should be a fine opener. I'll be packing either a 284 or a 375 Win depending on locale.
