I'm toying with the idea of re barreling a rifle into a 22-250. Thinking I would run 50-60 grain bullets most of the time. I might consider doing something a bit heavier. What twist do you guys recommend?

I went with a 10" twist in my last one and now wish I would have gone with an 8 twist to use all the bullets.

1-8" with the 40's 50's and 75's. No load development. Just loaded and shot. Travis

I have 2 12" twisted 22-250s and can't wait to torch ones tube and screw on a 8" barrel, in my experience with fast twist 223s you can get by with "overspinning" lighter bullets with no ill effects but you will put bullets in the paper sideways with a 12" twist if you go to 65 grain or heavier bullets

Good shooting for 10 feet. Let me guess? Your inventory of 22-250's matches your inventory of ammo? Too [bleep]' funny. Travis

Are you shooting a vanilla 250 or an AI?
not sure which way to go when I put a fast twist barrel on one of mine but I'm leaning towards a standard because fire forming sucks

I was also wondering about this I wanna do a swift I was thinking 1 in 12 I still wanna shoot 40 grain and commonly 50-55 I don't understand y they are almost all 1 in 14 normally I think 1 in 12 should work well with everything

I'm rebarreling my ai to a vanilla, but not because of ff. In my gun the ff rounds hit same or close enough POI not to worry about.

The 1-8" will handle those fine. Travis

What kind of speeds are you getting with 75 grain bullets out of the vanilla and what powders are the way to go? I am guessing the 75 amax is pretty much the way to go?
I am really tempted to put a 1 in 8 on one of my rifles now, life is to short and barrels are to cheap to shoot a tube you are not into. Not to mention why in the hell do I need two 1 in 12 22-250s?
You are right, I have realized I am not an AI guy, I tried it in a 257 roberts and its not worth it to me

I get 3300fps and that is with RL 15. No doubt H4350 will work too. I have enough 75gr Gay Maxes to get by but I would not hesitate to try the heavier Bergers if I didn't.
The more BC the better!

I shot my first 22-250 spittin' 75s yesterday (3400fps), and it blew my friggin' mind. I know what my next rifle is going to be.
