Guys, from those of you using bench mounted electric chainsaw sharpeners I'd like to hear your purchase recommendation please.

Cost isn't a huge concern but ease of use as well as quality of sharpening is number 1'.

the Chinese ones are junk.friend bought one ,broke first time we tried it.
got half the chain sharp,though.

Sthil makes a good one ,that's the only one I've had personal experience with

I have a tecomec and have used it for five years or so and have sharpened probably 100 chains works great and should last me twenty more years

I am just not sure about the electric concept. A new file cuts nice. Seeing the damn chain at 51 is a challenge. You would still do the rakers by hand??

I just bought a Grandberg manual sharpening guide that seems to work pretty well.

My nephew has an Oregon, not certain of the particular model, that is set up in my shop. It is very well made and seems to work very well. Set up did not seem to be a big problem either. It was not inexpensive though.

cheapest one china freight had has worked doing my 10 or so chains about 4-5 times a year so far. A bit fragile plastic, but if you ai'nt a dummy it works fine and still runs.

Bought a better one on sale but haven't had it out of the box yet since the cheapy one still runs fine...

We have an Oregon at work for over 11 years... still running fine. Work is City, and trims a lot of trees at times... probably have 100 chains that get done maybe every month or so on average.

My neighbor bought one at Harbor Freight and I have it in my garage. I've used it several times and it does a good job. Yup, it's Chinese but the price was right for me! I've got a Dremel attachment made for sharpening chain saws and it works pretty good too and you leave the chain on.

Last year I purchased an Oregon 519789 and it is the best thing since sliced bread...for the past couple of weeks I have been getting home and sharpening two chains and dropping the rakers when needed in under ten minutes.




Really is a seriously useful piece of kit...and no more bloody files!
