Police are looking for a man (reportedly a baggage handler) suspected of shooting six people at the FedEx facility in Kennesaw. As NBC11 reports, the shooting occurred at 545am as the male suspect arrved at the facility and started shooting:

FBI and ATF now on scene assisting local PD after 6 people have been shot at a FedEx center in Atlanta.
Shooter with shotgun wearing black tank top, black skulley, black cargo pants & shells across shoulder.
Situation is fluid.
Who did this? What was this persons problem?

Looks like he's now an "inactive" shooter.

A shooter described as being armed with an assault rifle and having bullets strapped across his chest "like Rambo" opened fire Tuesday morning at a FedEx station outside Atlanta, wounding at least six people before police found the suspect dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.

Police rushed to the center after someone called to report an active shooter at 5:54 a.m. After surrounding the perimeter and working to clear the building, officers found the suspect dead, Cobb County police spokesman Michael Bowman said. He said there were no immediate reports anyone else had been killed.

FedEx clerk Liza Aiken said she was working inside when she heard something, dropped, looked to her left and saw the gunman.

"He had bullets strapped across his chest like Rambo, a huge assault rifle and he had a knife," Aiken said in a parking lot where employees were gathering not far from their workplace. Before she could continue, a woman wearing a FedEx jacket told Aiken to stop talking and led her away.

Six people wounded at the FedEx station were taken to nearby Wellstar Kennestone hospital, where spokesman Tyler Pearson said one victim was rushed to surgery with potentially critical injuries. Others were less serious.

"A lot of them were able to walk off the ambulance," Pearson said.

David Titus, a FedEx truck driver, said he was just coming to work when he saw someone walk up and shoot a security guard in the abdomen outside the building. He said he could hear more gunshots after the gunman went inside.

"It was chaos," Titus said. "Everyone was running ducking and hiding, trying to get out of there."

FedEx said the facility about 25 miles north of Atlanta is a hub where packages are sorted and loaded onto vehicles for delivery. It's located next to the general aviation airport for suburban Cobb County.

The identity of the suspected shooter was not immediately released.

The company was cooperating with police but had no details to release about the shootings Tuesday morning.

"We are aware from the authorities of the situation," said Scott Fiedler, a FedEx spokesman. "Our primary concern is the safety and wellbeing of our team members, first responders and others affected."

Dressed like "rambo", gut-shooting or otherwise wounding people before off'ing himself? I'd say, the usual bowl of cornflakes.

Clearly, we need to spend lots more on public school education, because he obviously could not read the Gun Free Zone sign.

Most victims were able to walk away? Maybe a .22LR semi-auto?

This will sound terrible but I don't see shooters race being mentioned. Sure zero will be using this to his political advantage for more gun control. Sure there will be a rush on for ammo and components again. Where do all these whack jobs come from?

here where the gun control argument fails with this.

I know the Colt Ships new rifles to the US Air force Via Fedex, who to say this guy didn't steal it from a shipment.

Another fine example of a gun free zone. Prayers sent for all involved.

According to a Sheriff's Deputy reporting at the scene, the shooter used a shotgun.

Of course, to people who are totally ignorant of firearms as the woman in the above quote, ALL long guns are "assault rifles," and ALL black handguns are "Glocks."

As usual, "Gun Free Zones" are "Target Rich Environments."

Kennesaw is the town down there that made it mandatory that each home have a firearm... this deterred crime dramatically, and made national news.. of course it increased crime in surrounding towns... My brother lived in Kennesaw at the time...

But don't you love the comment " A Huge Assault rifle".....

why would he have "bullet strapped across his chest" if he had an assault rifle? magazines maybe, but bullets?

The assault rifle was "huge", probably 50cal or larger. You couldn't lift a magazine of these babys.

On the lighter side...

I saw a video the other day of a guy who has invented a "gun" that fires table salt like a shotgun - to kill house flies. It apparently works very well indeed. (True story)

Now if he had named his invention the Huja Salt Rifle...
