I wasn't in the shop at the time but have it on good report that at least one person in the world likes Skavorski scopes a lot.

Leupold is pronounced LOO-pold, at least by all the people in the Leupold family I've met. Ask for a "Loo-pold" here and you will get a blank look, here they are pronounced "Lee-a-pold". Doesn't mean we are right though.
These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

Around here when people have a few dollars for a good scope they buy Lee-oh-polds. Around here they spring for a Bushnell Trophy 6-18x382mm instead of a Bushnell Banner 6-18x382mm to put on their $800 rifle.
When I die I hope I don't start voting democrat.

Years ago I asked a guy at Bass Pro if I could look at a Sako 75 and pronounced it Socko. He said "a what'? I said a socko 75. He looked confused and suddenly said Ohhhh you mean a SAKE-O.
I said Yes, that's it! At least I got to look at the rifle.

On a visit to the Sako plant many years ago, they informed one of the members of the group that a SAKE-O was a watch made in Japan, that what THEY made was a SOCKO rifle. They also pronounce 'Lapua' as JStewart showed - Lap-wa.
The Tikka brand name is actually a 'conjunction' of the actual name of the company. The folks at Sako told us that the word 'Tikka' means woodpecker. They ran ads in Scandinavian countries that the 'Tikka goes in the same hole every time' (ie. the woodpecker always hits the same hole.)

OK, wise guys, how about Minox? MINE-ox, or Min-ux? Pronounced like Mynocks, the bat things from The Empire Strikes Back that try to suck power from the Millenium Falcon.

Wasn't Leopold (Lay a Pold) a musical conductor?? At least that's what I saw on Bugs Bunny one time.

Yeah, but I just put that down to them not being able to speak English.

OK. What about LAPUA ? http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/20...eiss-the-correct-way-to-pronounce-lapua/My first stumbling block: pronouncing the name of her Finnish ammo sponsor/supplier. Turns out Ive been putting the accent on the wrong syllable. Like everyone else I know I said Lah-POO-ah. Nope. Its LAH-poo-ah. So now you know.
