I'm having trouble stocking my .270 wsm with my Boyd's stock not fitting. Do the wsm calibers have a larger recoil lug than a standard short action?

It should be the same. Sometimes the recoil lug cutout in the stock needs to be opened or the depth cut more.

Also, and you might already know this, once you get the action setting down in the stock like it should make sure you scrape out a little wood along the back side of the tang. It doesn't have to be allot, just enough so that it isn't taking any of the recoil. How critical this is kinda depends on the action you are using but if there is contact there more often than not under recoil you will split or at least chip out part of the stock there.
