I brought an Marlin made in the 80's in 30/30, bore and metal in clean condition...shot very little. When I got ready to shoot the rifle, the shell carrier would not pick up the shell and come up with it to load it in the chamber.

Any help would be appreciated.

And you could make sure the carrier is not merely too gunked up with old oil and soot to work. Pull the stock off and spray or dunk and try it again. Just went through this with a much older Western Field deluxe.

Probably broken carrier rocker if good cleaning doesn't work.
