i dunno...after the 195 sp and 196 bthp the 170 sst is kind of anticlimatic.

170 is probably perfect for those who are running one of those real old Mausers that you need to keep pressures low, and still want a decent velocity of around 2500+ fps.

Don't currently run an 8, but have played with the Mauser and Rem Mag a little bit in the past. The 180 BT would be a hands down choice for me.

It would be a great varmint bullet in the big eight though. The PD's would probably end up in the next county.

SST's are just a little to soft for my liking in the 270, can't imagine it being much better in the 8.

170 grain with 49 grains of varget hits to POA with a couple of my old mausers (including a BRNO 21h) and is super accurate as well. Shoots right thru small south eastern deer.
