Looking for "starter" bows for my eight and nine year olds. Pink for one would be a bonus. Not quite ready for it (will be in month or two) but was hoping someone with experience might point me in the right direction so I can research.

Hoping for something in the 20 pound range.

Thanks!

Black Rhino bows are nice and they have a trade-in program as the child gets older/stronger.

Another possibility that offers colors

Maddog also makes a nice kids bow

I have purchased bows from all three of the above for my grand kids. All the bows were good shooters.

I bought my daughter (8) a Samick Polaris 48" model. They run around $100 or so shipped, and have interchangeable limbs so you can raise the poundage as she grows:

They're also available in a 54", 62" and 66" model, which are a bit more upgradeable. It doesn't have reinforced limb tips however, so it's B50 only.

My buddy got his girl one of the Martin Rebels. A recurves draw weight is determined by how far back you pull it, he got her the 40# model so that when she was done growing it was heavy enough to hunt turkeys or deer with if she wanted to.

I think she only held 30# on her fingers when she first started. The pics I looked at online don't do it justice, it is a nice bow, even thought about one for myself to bowfish with.

Always been a Martin fan. They're in our "backyard" and have toured the plant a couple times. That Rebel looks like a nice stick. I'll give it a look.

Thanks Glynn

Check out the youth section at Lancaster Archery. Just bought my son a Samick longbow under $100.
