I'm loading some .270 Winchesters for my grandson to use for elk hunting this fall. I planned on loading some Nosler 150 gr. Partitions but was unable to locate any. I ended up with some N/W Combined tech and Speer 150gr. BT's. Does anyone on this site have experience with either? I would be very interested in your experience with either these bullets.
Thanks in advance

Speer boat tails are on the soft side. They are not of Hot Cor construction, and have softer cores and thinner jackets than their Hot Cor flat base counterparts.

Roundup - are you talking about the Partition Gold (NPTG) or the moly coated ballistic tips ? I have a bit of experience with the NTPG in 30 cal - 150 gr.

I've used the combined technology slugs in 30 cal on caribou, moose, and elk. No complaints.

Thanks everybody for the replies. I'm going ahead with the Combined technology 150 grainers.

I used the 140's in a 7-08 and had great luck on whitetail.
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Visual of 150 gr fired from a .308 recovered from a deer. They are much stouter than the "regular" parition and the partion is moved forward. Front half has a thicker jacket too. MM

MM, i think the bullet you used and the one roundup is talking about are a lot different.
the CT is the same as Nosler's BT just with a coating so a lot lighter construction than the partition, not a bad bullet but i'm personally not sure if it's an elk bullet the pictures i've seen of the 7mm bullets they fragment pretty good

I bought a couple of boxes 150 gr partition gold a few years back. I have not hunted anything with them yet but 57.5 gr of RL 17 in my 270 wsm got me a couple of groups that measured just over a half inch.

I would not use the Nosler CT on an elk. I shoot a lot of CT'S and NBT's great bullets for deer sized game. If you like the tipped typed bullets and Nosler design look into the Accubonds. bet they will perform well on elk sized game.

I have no plans to use these bullets on elk, will probably use them on deer or maybe on wild hogs.
