Has anybody had this virus that redirects your your browser.
I've run Malwarebytes 3 times. It found 116 threats the first time, 1 the second and none the third.
But it's still there.
Any suggestions?

Load a secure operating system like Mint Linux, Otherwise your pissing up a rope - trust me, Linux is EASIER than Windows, so much easier that it is incredible anyone uses Windows anymore.

Windows is still bleeding technology, Linux is just a functional tool.

I've been sorely tempted to switch to Ubuntu but I have a bunch of Windoze based programs that I use a lot. I've even downloaded Ubuntu but I haven't figured out how to run it from a memory stick.

Running Windoze programs in Linux is no problem.
You can do it thru a program called Wine or in a virtual machine.

To run from Usb stick,
1.the stick must be prepped to be bootable.
2. set your boot order in the BIOS to USB first, hard drive second.
3. plug in USB
4. reboot, click to run Ubuntu.

Here are the directions to set it up.

Ubuntu on USB

Don't be half assed, save your pictures and work files and then jump in 100%. Programs are free in Linux land, and function just fine.

Found These Instructions Googling "trovi virus." I don't know these people or had to remove that virus but the instructions are what I would do anyway. If I run Malwarebytes I always run CCleaner too. Since using ZoneAlarm anti-virus Malwarebytes hasn't found anything (knock on wood) but any quality anti-virus kept up to date should do the same.

Don't let some outfit sell you a product to remove viruses. Prevent them yes (maybe, there are free ones that are pretty good), remove them no.

And close the browser before running Malwarebytes.

I think it was Les that reco'd running Malwarebytes and/or anti-virus in SAFE MODE.

You might want to try that.

Try running Ubuntu 14.04 and scrapping Windows and you will be a happier man.

You need about 6 minutes to learn Ubuntu, but Mint is a nicer look and feel.

The only technical issue you will face is learning the steps to load new free software. And, that is managed nicely by the package manager.

Seriously, it isn't your fathers Linux anymore. I bet Windows 8 was a bigger change than going to Linux.

I've tried Ubuntu a few times and was always disgusted with the lack of drivers for almost everything in my systems! AND I rarely have any trouble at all with Windows!

To the OP,

In the future, any virus that you end up with should be able to be googled to find out how to proceed with it. Oddly enough, I've never met anyone who was the first to get a specific virus, although somebody has to be. Google knows everything. That's where the rest of us start our searches in order to help you.

I can't speak for the others, but I'm more than happy to help and to hunt down solutions for Campfire members. I only state what I've stated so that you have another tool in your toolbox to handle your own computer virus concerns.

If you need more than 6 minutes to figure it out I've got concerns for you my friend!

You must have some truly unique hardware.

Na! For a long time now I've been buying the Mass merchandized HP desktops. They sell tons of em almost everywhere. They might use unique hardware but I kinda doubt it!

OH! The only thing I always added was wireless network cards. And it seemed there was never a display diver for what I had and I'd have to run in CGA. It was never any fun! Always bugged me to since I could never run it long enough to find out why many folks like it.
