Does anyone have one they would be willing to share with a first timer. It will be a fly in hunt on tires not floats. Beaver or Helio I believe for 2 guys.

I've got a list made up in pdf for a caribou hunt I did a while back, it was a float hunt but you can modify it however you'd like. If you want it pm me your e-mail address and i'll send it to you.
That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

Dental floss to get the rib meat outta your teeth! Amazing how much sleep you can lose in a tent without it.

If you're really going on a true drop camp hunt, then the company which is providing the camp should provide you with a list of what you will need in addition to what they provide.
This list is from an Excel spread sheet and they don't translate too well into the campfire. I think you can figure it out though. This was the gear that we took for a DIY caribou hunt out of Kotzebue.

Tents enough for 16?!?!?!
Did the caribou room with you, too?

Tents enough for 16?!?!?!
Did the caribou room with you, too? We just used the big REI tent as a cook tent. Nobody slept in that tent. Two people slept in the Cabelas tent and two people slept in the VE-25. That allows plenty of room so you don't get on each others nerves. The Kelty tent was used for gear storage. This was not a backpack hunt so weight/bulk of things is only limited to that which can fit into the bush plane. Actually it was good that we had extra tent space because one of the tents was ruined when a guy operated a space heater inside the tent and burnt the rainfly. KC

Gotta add the column for stuff taken and never used as well. LOL
2 guys in a beaver or helio can have a really nice camp . If you guys are not built like Samoans figure you could have 4-500 lbs in gear and food. Friends and I total weight going in have done 1100 lb load in a beaver and about 900 in a helio , that includes our body weight. Just double check with your flight service, depending on how far they have to fly those numbers could be lower if they need to carry a lot of fuel.

600 lbs total including body weight so that leaves 215 lbs for gear which is actually a lot of gear.

Nice list but IMO, it's overkill. Yeah, but it's a fly-in. Never done one, but I have done 40 years of 10 day back-packers. Didn't bother to read thru the list, but mine typed and laminated as to possibles- ( not everything makes the cut on any specific hunt) - is only about half as long. It might not be as detailed, but I survived and never lost any meat, up to 18 miles in... I might have lost a few pounds body weight now and then.... It wasn't always fun, admittedly, but gad - the memories! And they only get better, the farther removed.... If you can't fit it into a 70 lb or so backpack going in on a 10 day hunt, you probably don't really need it. Half that will be food. The only real difference between an over-nighter and a 10 day is the food weight, roughly speaking. For example - the only extra underclothes you really need for a trip of any duration within reason are two changes of socks (each change being inner and outer socks). You really can wear the same set of everything else the entire time. Sure, you may be wet and cold part of the time and have to burn them afterward... I've been known to take an extra t-shirt, tho, to change out in the evening if I get wet. The 3 rules you need to pay attention to are these: Sleep warm (and preferably, but not necessarily) dry. (A dry pair of socks worn to bed makes more difference than you might think...) Eat enough calories. Frequently. Take care of your feet. The rest is all fluff.. I love hunting out of the pick-up camper I bought a few years back when I can - or use it for a base for farther back in...... I may be crazy, but I ain't stupid....or is it the other way around?
The only true cost of having a dog is its death.
