Anyone shooting a 6.5-06 with 270 brass? Got a caliper measurement?

I want to neck down 270 norma brass to 6.5-06. Looking to see if it will fit in a chamber cut to 0.296 without turning.

Anyone know?

Thanks!

Mine measure .291-.292 loaded on necked down 270 Winchester brand brass. Works great for me. Good luck.

My 6.5-06 cases are nickel plated Remington 270 brass.

A loaded one is .292

I measured two lots of WW and some Norma. All were .293. All have been shot a few times, so they may have thinned some.

Excellent. Thanks guys. 3-4 thou clearance then.

Smokepole, I read some reviews on midway's site that the 270 norma brass may get loose primers pockets after a few firings.

Have you experienced that?

How did that 6.5-06 of yours ever workout?

I was thinking a Lee 25-06 trimmer chucked in a drill after necking down would be reasonably quick.

Or a good reason to get a little crow trimmer.

I trim my .270 with a Forster chucked in a drill, works great.

On the primer pockets, mine is the AI version and I'm shooting 140's at 3050, and seeing loose primer pockets after 3-4 firings on just about all the brass I've used. So I'm not a good judge.

It didn't. Parted it out and moved on. Piece of junk barrel(s).
