UPS contracts to move a lot of the USPS mail, so it doesn't surprise me that they moved it over there to be put in with their stuff.

UPS started that a few years back using USPS at the final destination delivery. I have tracked several shipments to me that Big Brown got to Denver in a very timely manner to find the post office sits on it for 2 to 3 days before I get it.
No fear, no doubt, all in, balls out.

Lots of Surepost things come here. It shows up at the PO one day, is on my porch at 11 the next.
Nary a problem

Amazon uses a similar process. Seems messed up. They predict a delivery date and it arrives several days later. Seems like since they come to my town...just drop it off. Only a small town anyway.

Nary a problem Been my experience as well. I have even went into our local post office and picked up a couple of packages right after the PO got them from UPS.

FedEx does the same thing.
Have had two items shipped to the field office via FedEx who then transferred them to the USPS.

Ups pays the usps i beleive 1.80 a package to complete final delivery here in rural iowa.they can't drive to far off route here to make a delivery for 1.80. Has reallyx slowed down delivery. What used to be next day is now sometimes next week.

This has been something going on for a long time. I am sure UPS and Fedex do this because it is cheaper to have USPS do all that small stuff locally. Likely get a very good bulk rate for USPS to pick, sort and deliver.

I'll pay the extra to have the UPS truck pull up my driveway. Every package that's ever come from UPS or FEDEX through Dumbpost is two days extra getting to me from when it was dropped at the PO. Unless they drop it at the PO on a Friday, then I don't get it until the following Tuesday.

I get a lot of Midway shipped by UPS Sure Post, final delivery by local USPS.
On checkout you can choose your shipping options,
- UPS Mail Innovations - UPS Sure Post - UPS Ground - UPS 2nd Day - UPS Overnight
Maybe for certain stuff (hazmat?) there are less choices. On Midway's shopping cart page there's a Shipping Estimator you can use to compare time/cost, and choose whatever suits ya on checkout.
