Have any of you ever had firearms stolen that were in a safe? If so, what kind of safe/cabinet did you have? Also, has your safe(s) prevented loss of firearms during a burglary? I'm especially wondering if any of us have had guns stolen that were in safes of less "safe-ness" than a Fort Knox or AMSEC or one of the top of the line safes. Thanks in advance again

No, just because I haven't been burglarized, but my next door neighbor's gun safes saved his guns. The burglars didn't even bother trying to get into them. They just grabbed valuables that were accessible, including some handguns in drawers and such.

Never had an attempt so NO, but my buddy's house was hit and his safe saved the firearms that were in it. And not for lack of trying because they even turned the safe over hoping the impact would break it open. The only damage was to his back because he was so pissed he wouldn't wait for help to stand it back up.

My soon to be ex-wife got into my gun safe in 10 minutes with a 16 ounce claw hammer.
I forget what type it was, a Heritage or something - anyway, it was your standard big-ass 36 gun "fireproof" safe with the thick steel bolts all around the door and frame and a combination lock. It was bolted to the cement floor in the garage.
I had moved out of the house and taken all of the guns and everything else out of it but she had this idea I still had something of value in it. So she proceeded to pound and whack on the lock with a standard 16 oz hammer and got it open in about 10 minutes. Don't ask me how, but I saw it with my own eyes standing open when I went back there.
Burglars, probably safe. Insanely angry woman, no chance...

Just be glad she didn't use the hammer on you!

Yep!
Had bought a handgun safe.
Was going to buy a rifle safe, but was a little too slow.
The crooks that broke in stole 14 firearms from me, from a glass fronted cabinet.
There were smudged fingerprints where they tryed to move my 350 lb. handgun safe, but it is lag bolted to the floor.
Recovered 5 of the 14 guns and had a rifle safe installed and bolted down, befor I got them back from the police.

Yes - my safe turned out to be a very good investment. Burglars broke in several times but were never able to get into the safe.

Mine has saved my collection twice. All they got was a self defense gun that I left out.

I gave my BIL an old safe that was more to keep kids out than for burglary protection. Someone broke into his house while he was away and forced it open. I'm sure it was someone who knew he had the guns and who knew he was out of town. The guns were all they took.
If someone has the time and equipment, almost no safe will protect you. I've always wondered how my safe would fare against a plasma cutter. Seems like a prepared thief would do well armed with one.

Had a friend with lose his guns which were locked in a cheap, sheet metal case. Seems the light case was not only not a deterrent but also made a convenient carrying case for the thieves ... not being bolted down and all.
He has since bought a quality (& heavy) case & bolted it to the floor and wall.
