I've said it before and I'll say it again, everytime I try Scotch I have to lick my azz to get the taste out of my mouth........ Just give it a rinse with that Canadian Zippo fuel.....

i have not tried makers mark but i know it is extremely popular. This weekend was the 2nd time i had knob creel, drank it off and on and switched back and forth with jack and preferred the knob to regular jack. Single Barrel still sets my standard but it is expensive....39$ for a 750. I think Knob is about 10$ cheaper for a 750.
The difference beteween bourbon and tennessee whiskey :Charcoal-mellowing refers to a process used to make Tennessee whiskey, such as Jack Daniel's. The process involves slowly dripping the newly made whiskey through giant containers hard-packed with 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal. The process takes ten days, and during this time the whiskey absorbs the essence of the charcoal, refining the spirit and giving it a unique flavor and aroma. Bourbon comes out of the barrel straight into the bottle

I used to think Scotch was for wimps, but if Rick likes it..... Macallan, Balvenie Double Wood, Glenmorangie (I like 'em all), Glenfiddich 15 and 18, Laphroig, Talisker ... in no particular order.
Make mine Scotch.
Rick You have good taste, friend. I also like The Balvenie Double Wood. Another brand of single-malt I found that is drinkable yet inexpensive is called McLelland. It is about $20 in MI and I much prefer the Highland variety. It's not The Balvenie, but it's not $85 either.

Whiskey's are like optics. Any "quality" product is a million dollars better than a "cheap" one, but...an excessively priced one is about a dime better than a quality one. The cost of whiskey is directly related to the distilling process. The more times it is distilled, the more it will cost. Alcohol is a product of sugar and yeast...period. The distilling process takes the alcohol form the "mash", and seperates the ethanol (good) from the methanol (bad...hangover) alcohol. If you pay too much for whiskey, it is for vanity sakes only. Too little, and it will hurt your head. I wish my knowledge of sporting clays was as good as that of whiskey!

Steelhead, Weller is something I found years ago, when living in Texas. It has its own unique flavor, which I and many of my friends are partial to. While it comes in several varities, I find I like the 107, which is the proof. Definitely a sipping whiskey as any mix other than a little water, covers its fabulous flavor. Seems like it is only 20 per bottle so quite cheap for what you get. It certainly suits me! JMHO TM
