Mine too...
One of my great great grandfather's brothers was at Gettysburg. My direct ancestor was out at Vicksburg.

The good guys don't always win in this fallen world. I suppose because John Calvin would tell us there are no good guys.

Bet that as it may... I wish we had won at Gettysburg; I honestly do. If Jackson had only lived! I think had he been there Little Round Top would have been taken and there would have been no Pickett's charge.

Coulda woulda shoulda...

Who knows.

We certainly have our share of tyranny to stand up to these days. God help us, amen.

What an embarrassment the Civil War was for our country.

Imagine killing each other just so some could keep slaves?

Those slavers are why we have some of the problems we do today!

My Great Grandfather, and several of his brothers and cousins were with the Georgia 46 Infantry. Lots of battles, none killed, all returned and went back to dirt farming after the war, in middle Georgia.

Man, those southern boys were stout. I can't imagine marching from Virginia to Gettysburg in the heat of summer and still having enough left in the tank to fight a battle like that.

You stupid [bleep], the covil war wasn't about a bunch of useless [bleep], it was about an overstepping federal gov't dictating to the individual states how they would run.

Hell you probably think the Holocost was in bad taste was well

Thanks to all the families for their courage and service on the 151 anniversary of Gettysburg.

The slave system of plantation economy is only a representative of the age in which it existed. It is to be neither extolled or vilified. For some reason, the notion of "America" means to some that we should have been immune or better than the prevailing methods of economic advancement of the day.

It would have ended, the same way Americas rural economy, industrial economy, and Space economy has gone away; when the POWERS decide theres a better way to lower costs or, a cheaper group they can invite into the capitalist gears, or technology advancement did it.

As to the formerly "wronged", theyve been given heavy incentives and opportunities to join the "party" in a responsible legitimate way. That they havent is completely on them, and a choice.

Those that have made it, I only wish would join together in loud, vocal rebuke of the others, and get their house together.

I know there were relatives at Sharpsburg...or Antietam as the other side called it...and then later at Gettysburg....some in Picketts charge...plenty of relatives from all over Northern Virginia... Mosby's Rangers....

If they had to die, too bad it was to the north side of the Potomac...

I had family on both sides during the war of northernn agression. In fact one of my relatives was in sherman's army burning atlanta while my wifes was defending it. Gitem said it right, it was all about federal surpremacy. Just like it is today, with fruitflies in washington dictating to western states.

On my Fathers side I had one Great Grandfather that served the entire war in the 2nd Arkansas Infantry and another that rode with Nathan Bedford Forrest. On my mothers side, I have no idea. miles

Were? We still is stout....some of us, at least.

I was at Melvin Forbes' camp one summer and was discussing the black problem with Dave Petzal. I remarked to him that when we (the South) was in charge we had 100% employment but when the yankees took over things just went to hell. All was TIC, of course. Petzal just gave that little chitt-eating grin of his.

The real sad thing is that Lincoln did not live long enough to send the slaves back to Africa.

One of the most dumb azz, ignorant war of northern (obammy negroe communist aggression) comments I have read on this otherwise normally well informed forum. Had the South won that war we would not have discarded the Constitution and ended up with a greasy negroe foreign communist as president.

"All that the South has ever desired was that the Union, as established by our forefathers, should be preserved, and that the government, as originally organized, should be administered in purity and truth." – Robert E. Lee
