Anyone used the 123gr in the 260, what results did you have?

Awesome results as far as accuracy. Have killed 1 Dall ram so far. Dropped at the shot.

Mine shot them pretty well but seems to shoot the 136L a little better. Have a little over two boxes if anyone is interested in more 123s.

I do not have a 260 but run these in a 6.x47L and they shoot very well. I will use them this year to kill a few critters. I expect they will work just fine. My results with other Scenar have been positive.

What kind of speeds are you getting with the 123's? 3000fps for me in my GAP.

What powder and barrel length are you using to get 3000?
I can get 2950 with 4831sc in mine (23") but best accuracy is back at 2900.

I could clock them at 3k with H414 outa the 23" Rock piped .260.... and they were mighty accurate. But, I didn't like how they performed on coyotes and other vermin.... so I run the 123 Amax.... I like them much better on fur.

I've got a pile and some R19, but am burning through some 108's at the moment. Curious myself....

More than one coyote packed a Scenar a little ways after taking boiler room hits, and they showed little reaction to impact. I know guys report good things on deer.... and they may be great for that.... but I'll never know. They were very accurate though, and the .550 BC held true for me out past 1000.
I do know that the 123 Amax abosutely trucks furry stuff.... from prairie dogs to blacktail deer. The Amax is equally accurate in my rifle.... performs better on critters.... and is at least 20-40% cheaper.

Dogshooter,
Thanks for the response - so seemingly no expansion in the coyotes?

There appeared to be some expansion.... as exits were nasty. There was just very little reaction to the hit. In one instance... I shot a called-in coyote at 100ish yards: the Scenar exited right behind the front shoulder... about the size of a tennis ball. The dog took it, spun once, then walked off like nothing happened. He made it almost 400 yards before another one ended the show. Here is the above mentioned dog. I've posted these pics before, and no one seems to believe it happened the way did. But, like Elmer said: Hell, I was there. I shot 4 coyotes with that combo, and only one was anchored. Not a huge sample, granted.... and I know Pat has dirt-napped hundreds of coyotes with the same combo. In... Out... I've shot a bunch of coyotes with Berger VLDs too (6mm/95, .25/115, and 6.5/130) ... and seen similar results several times. My subjection is this: On coyotes, with VLD/HP bullets, the delayed expansion can can cause the bullet to 'pencil' through the first 6-8" of the dog, then expand. This would cause the appearance of a 'huge wound' because of the large 'exit'.... but the trauma to clockwork would be far less significant. Meaning the bullet acted like a FMJ until the middle of the second lung.... then it went off and blew a big hole through the off ribs. Sort of a reverse 'splash'... if you will.

Dogshooter,
Thanks very much for the detailed response and follow-up pics. Much clearer now!
