Hi, I bought some Burger bullets - 140 gr. And I realize I am not able to find any recipes for these bullets online. does anybody have a Burger manual? What is the start and high end loads? I am using IMR 40.64, Reloader 15, Winchester 760 and Reloader 17. What is your favorite load?
Thank you

So far I like Big Game or Varget in mine, with 120's or 140's but it's a fussy rifle and will get a new barrel.

The caliber itself is not fussy. Were I you, I'd probably started with your Rel 15 and start working up. Odds are it will shoot well.

No, but if you e-mail Burger they will send load data. Did this for 215gr Hybread.

I'm gettin' hungry grin

Serious about e-mailing them, give it a try.

The Berger manual shows that VARGET has an approximate fill ratio of 98% at max load.

Starting load 37.5 grains yields 2537 fps
Max load 41.7 grains yields 2792 fps

This from a 24" bbl.

COAL = 2.800"

Hope this helps.

I run 40 grains with a 168 SMK. Depending on the bullet. 42-43 with 140s.

Varget is my favorite. My friend loads the Bergers atop RE17 with stellar results and an additional 75 fps over Varget.

I don't have Varget. My barrel is a 26 inch - semi target barrel. everything is trued up. I loaded a load that should do 2700 ft per sec. it is not on the hot end of the book. near but not. My Crony said it was doing 3050. Those were 140 gr SST with Winchester 760. So i came home and started over at the bottom. This time i used reloader 15. I found one that was good. It is a little slow. it was 2650. then i bought Burger bullets. and i don't have a book frown

Wow- that's cruising pretty good. 760 should be a fine powder too. Maybe back off of it a little. I can't remember using R15 in mine so can't suggest anything there.

Big Game - 120's go 3,100+ and 140's go 2,900+ in a 22" tube...

IMR 4350
Big Game
Varget

Don't know if anyone still reads/uses Ken Water's Pet Loads. He settled on W760 as the "best" powder for both velocity & accuracy. H414 is the same stuff. I'd think good 7x57 powders would do just as well in the 7mm-08...I've found nothing better than H4350 and Norma 204.

IMR 4350 and Speer 145's, in mine. Varget comes in a close second.

I run H414 under a 140 ballistic tip. Remington model seven with 18" barrel. Hotter I go tighter it groups. Running 48 1/2 grains which is as much as 4 grains over max depending who's data you look at. No pressure signs at all getting 2800 fps. If I put some effort in to it and conditions are real good it will shoot honest 1/4" groups. Just under 1/2" with out trying. Excellent results on whitetails too.

Berger manual says: IMR 4064 37.0-41.0gr 99% fill
RE - 15 37.5-42.0gr 96% fill
Win 760 42.0-46.7gr 100% fill

Hope that helps

Mark
