Saw one today for sale and don't know much about them. Would love to try the caliber but hate to buy for that reason alone. From the limited information I have been able to gather, these are kinda rare. Is this true?

I have only owned one model 70 in 22-250 back in the mid to late 80's. So basically I don't know squat about them but it seemed to be a fair price so I went ahead and bought it.

There was a discussion in this forum not too long ago re. Post 64 6.5x55's. They are desireable but, as I recall there are different models/variations. Do know that crf and push-feed models were discussed. Sure that someone will be along to answer your questions.

Yep those are harder to find, and lots people like them. If I didn't have a custom 260 rem I would still be looking for one. I'd grab it and go have fun. Great kid gun because of the low recoil and way enough to kill anything up to elk

I have a crf in that caliber. Shoots just sub moa and is easy to carry and shoot. I have a 3-9 vx-r on it that matches it very well. The thin barrel does heat up quickly.

The push feed 6.5x55 FWT I bought in '86 was a very sweet shooting rifle that never once failed to feed during the 10 years I owned it. It remains one of a just a couple of guns I sold that I wish I had back.

Finally was able to make it to the range for a quick session and after a couple of shots to sight in the Burris 2-7, it shows promise. Using prvi partisan 139sp, it shot a quick 3 shot group just under an inch. Recoil was minimal. It is starting to grow on me.

Very rare. Gunbroker and guns international have them occasionally in a featherweight model for 1200 - 1500 average. I own one and will not part with it. Love it that much!

I've had one for the last several years. With 160gr, there is nothing in North America that it wont bring down. I put mine in new wood and I think I'll give it to my son in a couple of years.

Cool score. Those rifles seem sorta rare and command a good price when you can find them. Way to go!
Pictures?

The 6.5 X 55 is a premium cartridge. More Moose have been Harvested with the 6.5 than any other. According to my Buddy.

COPY the IMG link from Photobucket and paste it in this text box..
Sounds like the rifle is shooting well. It's one of those rifles I always keep my eyes open for.

How do you like the Burris 2-7. I'm assuming it is a newer FFII 2-7x35. The reason I ask is because I just bought one for one of my favorite rifles: Pre 64 model 70 30-06 fwt: Also, is your push feed 6.5x55 an XTR fwt?
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

That's a beauty of a set up BSA.
Heard nothing but good about the new Burris FF's.
