Great looking knife, your maple really pops!

Never was allowed to use my knife during an African hunt, tracker and skinners did all the work. The skinners were happier with softer steel knives. Always saw them using a flat rock as a sharpener. I strongly doubt they could return an edge to a 60+ steel.

I did spend time in the skinning shed and even let the tracker use an Ingram but it dulled pretty quick - dirty cape.

Boise,
I know just what your talking about. I have a friend who was a DG PH in the Selous and he has a knife of mine. He was more worried the skinners would grab it so he left it at home and never did use it but on a Wyoming Mulie hunt.
One of the reasons I use the steel I do as well as HT it the way I do interestingly enough is specifically because of dirty hides. I personally do not like soft blades, seems like some do but Id rather be cutting then honing so what do I know..LOL
