with all the attacks against the USA and the COTUS, We The People just sit back and complain from out laptops and we DO NOTHING! i am just as frustrated as the rest, but something needs to be done. are we REALLY going to sit here like the proverbial "frog in a pan" and just lose all of our freedoms? i heard a saying once, "When you can't take it anymore, grab your rifle and run out into the street. if you're all alone, go back in, it ain't time yet". is that the situation? confused, ked

I have a feeling that if I were to grab a rifle and run out into the street, I would not see you out there. Edited: Dang, Duck, I didn't see you out there!

To borrow from Edmund Burke: The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
Sitting here and only typing is not enough only a paltry start. If you aren't actively involved locally, where it means the most, than you are part of the problem. Your BPOU, (basic political organizational unit) is where you need to be. You need to attend caucuses when they occur. You need to be mindful of local issues, upcoming meetings and events, possible primaries in your area and of course the general election in November. Volunteerism is what moves the needle on issues and candidates.
Yes it takes time and commitment. But remember, the other side is working harder to beat you!
So you don't like the direction and candidates? Change it! You may not be successful at first or all the time but stay engaged.
Are you discouraged and stay away? You are doing exactly what the progressives in the GOP want and of course ditto for the DNC. They appreciate those who just complain and do nothing. This ensures more victories and influence.
Being a "community organizer" CAN be a good thing!

bigwhoop, i agree with you and i am involved. and i agree, the other side is working harder. what worries me is the apathy of our side. i have to fight the discouragement in my own heart.
thanks for the reply, ked

We the people, haven't even begun to exhaust those options. Those of us that have been in actual combat don't really want to see it in our neighborhoods. I wonder what the founders would say to folks eager to take up arms and shed blood when they already did it and left a system to prevent it in place. Some of us have sworn to uphold the Constitution while others cannot get past the Declaration of Independence.

I'm not sure what to do exactly. I feel your frustration. I post this often. I honestly don't think it's bad enough yet to get people off the couch. Even when the troops are marching and it's martial law, I think people are going to hunker down and "hope for the best". The problem is we're addicted to our comfort and lifestyle and will lay low to try and preserve what we have. JMO.

NOBODY wants to see it is our neighborhoods, or anybody elses, for that matter. i am just frustrated at the apathy that is growing in this country, and am actually worried that the apathy will allow the country to decline to the point that there may seem to some that there is no other option, except to "take to the streets". that will be a terrible day indeed. thanks, ked

If you aren't actively involved locally, where it means the most, than you are part of the problem. Bullsht!Well into my ninth decade, I'm 9599% disabled and fading. Can't stand. Need a fork lift to get me out of my recliner and over to my computer. I'm not the only one who's so severely limited. Multitudes are worse-off than I am. What would you, O Mighty One, suggest that I do? Have the flag painted onto my body and let others wave me around on a pole? Volunteer to be melted down into bullet lube? One thing I can do right now tell you that you need to take careful note of the distinction between then and than. Ready for that, are you? (Little matter in itself, suggests ensconced inattention to more-important matters.)

thanks, ked I missunderstood you. You have my apologies, sir. Your statement here lead me to believe that you were itching for a fight: i heard a saying once, "When you can't take it anymore, grab your rifle and run out into the street. if you're all alone, go back in, it ain't time yet". is that the situation? I see a swing taking place and the opposite of apathy developing. The apathy allowed us to get to this point, but I think passions are heating up in a very big way.

Volunteer to be melted down into bullet lube? If this is an option I'd use it on one of the Howell chamberings and take something really yummy like a moose! I'm sure it would give you a chuckle and some satisfaction as you look down from the sweet by and by.

apathy allowed us to get to this point, but I think passions are heating up in a very big way. While she was telling the class that ignorance and apathy had brought about our national decline, the teacher noticed that Johnny was asleep. She woke him up. "Johnny, what has caused our national decline?" "Idunno, Teach, and I don't care."

Whatever these over-frustrated patriots do when they do take their rifles into the streets ... I'm sure they'll make things better.
