Love the 260 but that 243 has the most baddest ass stock ever.

When I die I hope I don't start voting democrat.

+1 on your last point, disagree with the first two.

Here is an Edge on an HS Precision .240. I got the stock, glassed it, filled the bolt handle slot, as their slot was too big. Then, I sent it back to McM for brown paint with black specks. Nice feel, great stock. This gun has a 26" bbl, but not barrel heavy. The 26 oz. Edge beats the heck out of the 46 oz. HS factory stock, which is a club compared to this one.

I ordered it pillared and to me, that's the way to go with Edge fill.

Looks like the Edge is more popular here, thanks for the replies.

SAS...that's the best looking flamed McM I've seen. Sucks you let it go...I'd be throwing offers.

Here's a MkV/Brux 7RM in a Wby. Express McWoody. It's not slippery, in fact it feels pretty good.

That Wby Express McWoody sure looks nice. I see that it is checkered which probably makes it less slippery compared to my McSwirly which is not checkered.
I measured the muzzle on my Win Mod 70 Fwt 6.5 x 55. It measures .56 inch. The barrel is nominally 22 inches long. As near as I can tell with a fixed 6X x 36 scope mounted, it balances just about one finger width forward of the action screw. A similar Mod 70 Fwt with the wood stock balances a good two finger widths back behind the action screw. Doesn't seem like much difference I know but it seemed very noticeable to me.
From several years of reading posts on the 'fire, I sense that a lot of experienced shooters prefer more weight out front. I understand that it makes the rifle "settle" better for shooting. So I'm thinking that what seems "barrel heavy" to one person may not seem "barrel heavy" to another shooter. Different strokes as they say.
I propose a scientific test: The OP should buy two more Mtn Rifles. One gets an Edge, one a McSwirly, and the last one a standard fill painted stock. He can shoot all three interchangeably for a few months then report back in. How's that?

Well, kinda. Make that barrel contour a little heavier, like for a standard Remington or Magnum Sporter, I bet a lot more people would be looking for a bowling ball stock.
