That was one of the worst experiences of my life!!

I've only had one, and it totally took me by surprise in the middle of the night.
Since then, and after having talked with several people that had experienced such differing "feelings" when it comes to kidney stones, I discovered the difference is "renal colic"

If you experienced renal colic...And you would know, because if you had,...death would have felt like a welcome relief....
I feel for you...

As someone said (can't remember who) if true love wasn't so painful, all country songs would be about kidney stones.

good one!
Thank God, someone was smart enough to discover pain relieving medication.
Hope I can make it to the DU banquet this evening.

First one?

YOu'll be more worn out than you feel, at least for a few days.. don't try a canoe race the minute they let you out of the hospital.

Or try to fight a fire a few hours after passing one.

Or try to almost cut a victim out of a rolled over concrete truck almost by yourself....

Trust me on those.. BTDT.

I keep meds at home now.... and can generally get by without visiting the doc or er. And feel back to full speed in aobut 3-4 days after...

IMHO pain meds only work if htey can knock you out to sleep. Beyond that they aren't all that effective, buy you get used to the pain...

Amen to the suck that is a kidney stone. Ive got one half way to my bladder right now. Drugged up and watching tv right now and praying for relief. My first one was a 6mm stone. I was on duty when it hit. I thought I was dying. Nothing should hurt that bad and not kill you. I couldn't believe I was going to have to pee a .24 cal bullet out. Then they broke it up with lithotripsy. That was supposed to turn it into sand. It didn't. Imagine hitting a marble with a hammer. Lots of sharp shards. I peed blood for two day after the last of it was out. Good luck with yours.

I only had one, and it was hell. Felt like someone had a hold of me with giant pliers. You cannot escape that pain. Sorry!

Every time I"ve had one I can almost track back to slowing down on water consumption for one reason or another, during the summer...

I passed my third one a few weeks ago. The Doc in the ER gave me Toradol. http://www.rxlist.com/toradol-drug.htm Amazing stuff for stones.
